Okay here is the deal: I have all these things in my garden that I want to show you. It´s mostly everyday things, some of them are really smart and sweet, some of them are pretty obvious and not much of a surprise. However all of them are thrifty and pretty effortless. And none of them are perfect. It´s just Garden Stuff.
Before we bought our house the only thing I knew about gardening was that I wanted to do it!
By trial and error I´ve learned a bit over the years. For me it´s the same as with decorating your house though. It´s can be a never ending story with ongoing projects. But really you are the one stetting the agenda, you are in charge of how much time you spend doing it.
I for one can´t seem to stop.
First part of “Garden Stuff” starts here; ideas easy as 1-2-3
These 3 are from my own garden. All photos by me, Jenny Brandt.
#1 Make room for birds
Still crazy about them birds. My goal is to cover this wall with bird houses and have a whole community there next summer. One in every color. These were hung a bit late ( in may) and only managed to hold one house guest. (The one on the bottom floor to the right) Next year I´ll hang more of them early in March.
#2 Effortless Decorating
We have so much stuff in our garden, stuff made of porcelain. Cats and birds in total harmony found on our fence and in the flower beds. Porcelain is a great material for your outdoor. Weather does not effect it all that much and if it breaks it will not turn into a gazillion pieces like glass does. Cute figurines like these are also cheep and easy to find at your local second hand store.
#3 Involve your kids.
It´s so easy involving your kids in your gardening plans. Just give them some room to plant/sow something of their own.
I let mine choose some flower seeds and gave them a box full of soil. They went a little crazy of course and some areas of the box are today a bit crowded with flowers while other parts are empty. I planted some corn and sunflowers in those gaps as you can see above.
That´s all for now all you garden junkies.
