Dos Visit Toby and Alex

2011 November 15
by Jenny Brandt

My brother in law dropped me off on the snow-white street outside Toby and Alex house last January.
They greeted me on the porch and excused their new puppy Orabelle for jumping up on me.

I had met Toby at a vintage clothes store in downtown Lincoln Nebraska, as I was picking up a zebra brooch he commented on how much he loved animals and how his home was full of creatures in every size or shape: plastic or stuffed. dead or alive.

I did what anyone in their right mind would do: Asked if I could come and take some pictures.

And this is how it turned out. Please click the images for larger views.

Toby, Alex and Chucky

The house is full of eclectic collections of vintage finds.

I love you more than zombies love brains

I can’t decide what is scarier: Pee Wee Herman in real life or as a doll

Toby and Alex are High School sweethearts and they collect dolls…

…they also make scrapbooks

Since I visited Toby has got himself a Black Widow, that Alexs father had found in his garage. A NOT-dead-one.

A porch swing and a puppy in an unmade bed

Friends and enemies

I wish I had a porch I could sit on like that

Toby and Alex often throw costume parties and play cards

This might be the sweetest couple Ive ever met.

A box full of happy times, found at a flea market

..and here is one of them up close. It looks like a party

Love this place. Thank you for letting me in.

Dos Visit Fringe and Tassel Costume shop

2011 October 17
by Jenny Brandt

There is a little costume shop downtown Lincoln, Nebraska, that I absolutely love. It ´s packed with animal heads and monster gear. And people come here to get their costumes for Halloween, Christmas, Mardi Gras or other special occasion. I come here to get inspired and last time I was in town I asked if I could take some photographs.

Phyllis has had the place for ages and she has made most of the rentals herself. Ward also works here, he helps out behind the scenes, when I came to visit I found him way back by the Star Wars mask. Behind the counter; Paul is in charge, he also works as an artistic theater director in town.

Costumes are so much fun, and I leave thinking : “We all should dress up more”

Dos Visit Frida and Staffan

2011 September 26
by Jenny Brandt

This XBox and movie-loving couple decided to leave their city apartment in Malmö and move to a house in the country side. And so they did.
They actually bought a house that me and Jens once wanted to buy. I was happy to be invited over and asked if I could bring my camera.

Frida has up until just recently worked at IKEA in Malmö and Staffan is a musican. Plays in the band Mon Roe.

Welcome to another Dos Visit, click the images for larger versions. Photos by me, Jenny Brandt
