The Katz’s breakfast – NYC 2012 with isabelle

First morning in New York we where awake with the sun and wanted to hit the streets. Well on a Sunday morning, nothing much was happening even in this funky town. I had been recommended this place, I guess it’s a classic and I can see why. I love this kind of worn out, never changing hangouts. In Sweden most of the things are new and shiny or wanting to be at least. I love the pride in a place like this.

This diner is called Katz’s Delicatessen and is on the edge of Lower east side.

If you think you recognize it – you may remember the famous orgasm scene in When Harry met Sally? Well it’s was shot here.

The rumor has it you should eat the pastrami sandwich with pickles and mustard. It’s like a kilo meat. I went for the much healthier American pancakes with fries (!)

Look how cozy this is!

And everywhere is photo’s of the owners and all kind of celebrity like Bill Clinton, Bono and Rosanne! So kitsch I die of love.

I also love watching the New Yorkers everywhere shooting shit between them. I love, love, love it! And also that you see all kind of ages working together.

Yes, I could use some water refill – please!

Yeah, I think you should check it out. On Saturdays it’s open around the clock. Good for a late night snack or early jet lagged bite!

Oh man, Katz’s is the best! You need to get a vanilla egg cream with the 1/2 a pastrami sandwich and a bowl of matzoh ball soup combo…it’s great!
