Hello!  I am so pleased to be visiting Dos Family today!  Hurrah!  It’s one of my very favourite blogs – chock full of the sorts of people and places I like the most.  Hooray for Dos Family!!!

I thought you might like to learn how to make these funny and cute Christmas ornaments.  They are really quick and easy to crochet.  Hang them on your tree, play with them or give them to your friends!  Play around with different colours, sizes and variations if you would like to!

You will need :
Yarn : white and red are good – or green – one skein of each is fine – regular old 8ply or 4ply or whatever you can find!
Crochet Hook : I used a 3.5mm hook – you can use up to a 5mm hook, I think!
Chenille Needle : or other big, fat needle to sew in ends
Scissors
Stuffing or tissues or something like that if you are making the Snowman Decoration
Some nice music and a mug of eggnog would be helpful too!

Crochet Christmas Hearts
(Because we love Christmas!)

Chain 5
Triple Treble 1 into the very first chain (furthest from the hook)
All the following stitches are made into this very first chain
Double Treble 2 into first chain stitch
Treble 3 into first chain stitch
Chain 1
Double Treble 1 into first chain stitch
Chain 1
Treble 3 into first chain stitch
Double Treble 2 into first chain stitch
Triple Treble 2 into first chain stitch
Chain 2
Slip Stitch into first chain stitch (which is now large-ish hole in the centre of your heart.
Pull your yarn nice and tight to finish the heart

Make Heart Bunting : continue crocheting around 25 chain stitches and THEN starting a new heart on this chain
Make Decorations :  chain around 25 chain stitches and THEN slip stitching the end of the chain into the 5th chain stitch
Make A Brooch : sew a brooch back onto the heart!

Crochet A Snowman Finger Puppet
Chain stitch 17
Skip the first two stitches and then half treble one stitch into each remaining chain stitch
At the end of the row chain up 2
Then Half Treble once into each chain stitch of previous row.
Continue on like this chaining up two and half-trebling along until you have 8 rows of stitches.
Fasten off and fold your crocheted rectangle in half. Good work!
Sew up the top and side seams with a big needle and matching yarn.
Turn right way out and add his extra features: Use yarn to stitch eyes and other features – or you could use felt or buttons or embroidery floss
Now make a scarf by chain stitching 25 stitches and fastening off.
Tie the little scarf tightly around Snowman’s neck to create his cute shape.
Pop him on your finger!
Sing a Christmas song!

Variation :: Make A Snowman Decoration
When you’ve crocheted your last row, don’t fasten off yet!
Chain 30 and the slipstitch back into one of the lower chains to form a loop.
Tuck this loop inside the snowman body before you stitch him up.
Stitch up the top and side, as for the finger puppet above.
Turn him out and sew on eyes.  Stuff his head before tying on a little scarf!
Hang him on your tree!
