Repair, mend and enjoy the imperfection!
For a while I’ve been drooling over this blogpost about Japanese fabric and ways of mending your clothes from Design Sponge. I love this so much. Love the fabrics, colors and the worn beauty. And the recycle aspect of it all!
This is apparently a Japanese farmer’s or fisherman’s jacket with sashiko stitching. Early- to mid-20th century sewing technique.
If you get a larger hole in a clothing you can put another piece of fabric underneath. Like on a pair of jeans…
Don’t miss this post and all info about this!!
The Japanese colors is also very inspiring like the hand dye technique – this image from Kinfolk. But next week during Formex you can also do a dye workshop with Handarbetets Vänner at Formex.
Emma Elwin at Make it Last also have a couple of posts about mending and having your own sewing kit.
Happy Mending!
