Homeschooling with DosFamily

Thank God school is back in a few days. We are all climbing the walls and everyone is longing for routines and friends and actually dressing in something else then PJ´s.

I´ve been thinking about home schooling and what it would be like for us.
The first thing that comes up in my head is Mallory Knox shouting at me: “A bad bad bad idea Jenny!” (Click here to see how it should be said ,video of Mallory Knox)
But for the love of nonsense lets think about it anyway.

Home schooling with me would be something like this.
Geography lesson with PSY
You know the map in our dining room, right. Perfect for geography lessons. I would teach the kids to point out the Simpsons hometown “Springfield. This is a tricky question because there are 22 “Springfield” in the US. They would have to watch all the episodes of the show trying to figure out what state it is in.

I would also attach people to important places to the map. For example PSY will show the kids where Gangnam Style was filmed.

Math class inspired by McDonalds
Learning all about adding and subtracting while playing “may I take your order”.
How much will you save by grabbing the whole meal instead of buying the pop, fries and burger separate?
And how much more is the supersized meal?

Viola complains in the picture:
“I haven’t had a costumer for a long time only people asking if they can use the restroom”

Biology with the Sims

I don´t have to worry too much about biology class. Viola has been playing the Sims for a while so she is all set.
Here she has created us, her own family.

Now all that´s missing is a home big enough for a class room.
Home sweet home school

Hey Jenny, Have loved your blog for a couple of years now. You and Isabelle always bring a smile to my face. My family has unschooled (that’s right, no classes at home, free range learning instead) for years. My kids are 13 and almost 15. Your ideas of homeschooling would work great. There’s nothing wrong with having fun learning, doing and pursuing what interest you. It’s been a fun journey for us. Ask away if you have questions. I know “not going to school” is hard to understand for some. Big thanks for sharing.

Hey Lizette!

THANK You so much for your comment.
I´ve been following a few American home schooling mothers and their blogs for a long time now and I really admire them.
Before I found home schooling quite strange but now I understand it better. and I find it very fascinating. I´m sure it can be both creative and great.

But it is not for everyone. I´m good at many things but being patience is not one of them.
And we can really drive each other crazy in our little house as it is. (even my very gentle and wise mother would tune in with Mallory above if I propose on home schooling with me as a teacher)

But with that said I absolutely love Gomez Addams opinion on the schooling system. When the principal of the school come to their house urging the family to let Wednesday and Pugsley start at his school.

Gomez simply says: “That sounds ridiculous. Why have children if you´re just going to get rid of them !?”

I think it is from the very first episode of the black and white season 1 of The Addams Family.

Thank you again for commenting on this post Lizette

Underbart ju! Kör du åldersblandat? I så fall har du tre ungar till och deras skolpeng därtill.
