Opening of the new Ikea store in Älmhult

Wow what a day!
Today I had the honor to be the speaker on the opening of Ikeas new store in Älmhult. Älmhult is where Ikeas journey started with the first store back in the 50’s and now as from today the have the shop with the largest range in the world! I have had so much fun. This morning I started after just 4 hours of sleep with speaking for 600 of Ikeas co workers at breakfast and then it was the main opening ceremony on stage in front of the store. For a huge crowd  – my guess is that almost most of the town where there – it was such a party. I also met Ingvar Kamprad – Ikeas founder. He’s now 86 but still going strong.

In the new store and only in Älmhult so far (well two stores in GB also carry this range) they have something called papershop. Books, ribbons, silk paper, notebooks, posters, paperclips, tags and lots of other fun stuff. It’s beautiful, playful and really well done.

Loved the big pompom thingies and the striped silk paper…

And this print in many different colors and on note books, wrapping paper and small gift bags.

I also got this dotted Christmas tree decoration but I’m thinking necklace?!
